Case Study: Unified Data Platform (UDP) Establishment for a Financial Services Organisation
By intelia | @intelia | Feb 14
intelia was engaged by a Financial Services Organisation to design, architect, and build a Unified Data Platform (UDP) on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to modernise their data infrastructure and consolidate assets from various acquisitions. This transformation played a key role in helping the client achieve accreditation from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA).
The challenge
Following recent merger and acquisition activities, the customer inherited multiple data warehouses and standalone data stores that required unification. This created the need for a streamlined data platform capable of consolidating these disparate systems to reduce complexity, eliminate data duplication, and simplify operations. The solution needed to leverage scalable cloud technologies, providing business users with enhanced data agility and flexibility.
The solution
intelia architected, designed, delivered, and operationalised the Unified Data Platform (UDP) using Google Cloud’s native data analytics tools, including Dataflow, BigQuery, Composer, and Cloud Run, all within a secure, ring-fenced environment. The solution supports both real-time and on-demand data processing, modeling, and governance, addressing the needs of structured and unstructured data across multiple source systems.
The results
intelia’s solution solution evolved into a state-of-the-art data analytics platform, delivering tangible business benefits that support the client’s ongoing growth and help maintain a competitive edge in the wealth management industry. The client has highlighted that the platform provides a unified, ‘single pane of glass’ view across their entire data estate, addressing both current needs and offering scalability to meet future requirements.
